Walls are an essential element of our living spaces, and it is imperative, even crucial, to arrange them with care. Much more than simple separations, these surfaces offer the possibility of displaying a style, a taste, or even a personality.
However, hanging a picture on the wall can be a tricky task, especially for those who don't know where to start. Our guide details each step to follow to enhance your interior!
1. The selection of works: the art of dressing your walls
Hanging our paintings harmoniously on the wall could be an artistic feat. Indeed, every detail counts: the choice of paintings, the frames that surround them as well as their place in our interior. So many details that are important to take into account for a breathtaking result.
You must therefore start by selecting the works according to your tastes and the desired result. The size of the work is essential because it must imperatively be adapted to the size of the space to be decorated: the smaller the space, the smaller the works to be hung must be and vice versa. It is a question of proportionality.
Black and white photographs are a safe bet for a rather neutral space. You can also opt for exhibition posters generally sold in museum shops at the end of your favorite exhibitions. Finally, lithographs, drawings or prints are good inexpensive alternatives to dress your walls.
Once you have selected your paintings, you need to determine the best frames. Simple frames such as thin wooden frames in black or white are safe choices. You can also opt for a frame that includes a mat to add depth to your artwork. This choice depends exclusively on your taste and the artwork you have selected.
Finally, the last step that should not be overlooked is choosing the ideal location! This choice essentially lies in the size of the works to be hung, including the frame. You can also opt for a wall in the entrance, the living room, the bedroom or even a corridor. Remember that the location of a work influences its appreciation. Also, we choose a work according to the room and not the other way around to obtain a more harmonious result.
The exact location of each work will be our focal point , that is to say the central point of a work. In principle the frames must be arranged at eye level, in general the focal point is between 160 and 170 cm from the ground.
2. The right tools
Knowing how to hang a frame on a wall cannot be improvised. In fact, you must equip yourself with the right tools and follow a certain number of steps to avoid making mistakes.
For this you will need the following material:
a hammer,
nails,
duct tape,
a level,
a pencil,
a tape measure.
3. Key steps
First, using the adhesive tape you will form a horizontal line on your wall at the height corresponding to the bottom of each frame.
Then you will place your frame just above this line and draw a mark with a pencil at the highest level of the frame.
Turn the frame over and measure the length from the top of the frame to the hanger.
Transfer this measurement to the wall starting from the mark drawn with the pencil.
Repeat this operation as many times as you have frames to hang, respecting an identical distance between each frame.
Drill holes in the wall at the mark and hang your frames
Remove the adhesive and admire the result!
4. Our inspirations
The art of wall decoration is a matter of taste. The choice of colors, textures and shapes is therefore subtle and varied. The choice of location and arrangement of the frames on your wall is also an opportunity to give free rein to your imagination.

We all have the idea in mind that we must hang rectangular pictures on the wall. However, we forget that wall decorations have very varied formats: large, small, square, rectangular, round are all choices that multiply the options. You can also add mirrors that will give more depth and perspective to your room.
