In recent years, contemporary art has undergone a phase of change followed by a phase of adjustment, particularly due to the emergence of new technologies and their role in the art world. Although this phase is not completely over, we can easily see that the 25 artists who mark contemporary art are at the same time great masters, emblematic figures of art and the new generation that stands out for its assured and committed style.
In terms of figures, the year 2023 will make history with a record number of contemporary art auction sales totalling 2.3 billion euros in turnover, 22 times more than in 2000. These figures show an increase in the number of lots submitted for auction, artists but also an increasing number of collectors who are increasingly young.
The contemporary art scene is unfolding with increasing and rich diversity: art is opening up to the Asian, African and Eurasian continents and the progressive inclusion of women artists in the art market is once again highlighted thanks to their remarkable performances.
This diversity also affects collectors whose typical profile has changed to make room for younger generations who are listening to young talents and committed artists whose inspiration is nourished by the major international political and economic events of recent years.
